SESRIC and Royal Society conducted fieldwork in Indonesia

Atlas of Islamic-World Science and Innovation (AIWSI) is an international project that aims to provide an insightful overview of science and science-based innovation across the Islamic-world, an independent and authoritative assessment of how these capabilities are changing, and analysis of the opportunities and barriers to further progress across the selected countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Mr. Mustafa Sahin, Researcher at SESRIC, Mrs. Priya Shetty, Lead Researcher for ATLAS Indonesia Country Case, and Mrs. Susan Gillespie, Policy Adviser at Royal Society, conducted the fieldwork in Indonesia.

Third Meeting of the Joint Management Team of the Atlas Project
Date : 11-12 June 2011 Venue : Istanbul Turkey

The Third Meeting of the Joint Management Team (JMT) of the Atlas of Islamic World Science and Innovation Project was held during the period 11-12 June 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey under the Chairmanship of the General Secretariat of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The meeting was attended by the representatives of project partners, namely OIC, Royal Society, SESRIC, Qatar Foundation, British Council, OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), Nature and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).

Director General of SESRIC visited RISTEK

Dr. Savaş Alpay, Director General of SESRIC, and Mr. Mehmet Fatih Serenli, Director of Training and Technical Cooperation Department, visited State Ministry of Research and Technology (RISTEK) of the Republic of Indonesia on 6 April 2011 to discuss issues of mutual interest of cooperation between the two institutions.

SESRIC hosted the Second Project Steering Group Meeting of the Atlas of Islamic World Innovation Project during the period 3-4 October 2010 in Istanbul, Turkey under the Chairmanship of H.E. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, the Secretary General of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The meeting was attended by the national focal points of the Atlas Project and in-country researchers of pilot countries, as well as the relevant OIC institutions and international partners.
